MD 355 Open House – June 26 and 27

FLASH service on MD 355 will run between Bethesda and Clarksburg.

The Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) is studying options for a new BRT (Bus Rapid Transit) service along MD 355 called FLASH. MCDOT invites you to a public Open House to learn more about FLASH on MD 355 and see the results of the extensive evaluation and preliminary engineering of the alternatives, including ridership, benefits, impacts, and estimated costs.

We look forward to answering questions and collecting your valuable input. Your feedback will help inform the selection of a Recommended Alternative. Please spread the word about these important meetings to friends and neighbors.

Find out why FLASH is:

RAPID: Features like limited stops, off-board fare collection, priority signaling, and level-boarding through all doors make for a faster ride.

RELIABLE: You’ll never wait long for the next FLASH and will see real-time travel information at the station.

RELAXING: Avoid the stress associated with driving: use Wi-Fi to be more productive, read a book, or simply use the time to rest.

The open houses are self-paced and attendees can come and go as they please. The two meetings will be identical and attendance at only one is necessary. Sign language interpreters and other assistive services will be provided upon request.

For more information, contact Darcy Buckley at (240) 777-7166 or send a request to

RELIABLE Frequent service, dedicated lanes, and green light priority signaling keep FLASH vehicles moving.

EFFICIENT One FLASH vehicle can take up to 90 cars off the road, making our transportation network more efficient and your commute easier.

CLEAN FLASH reduces harmful greenhouse gas emissions, making our air cleaner.

COMFORTABLE New FLASH stations will feature real-time travel info and provide a place for you to wait comfortably and pay your fare before boarding.

COST-EFFECTIVE You can save money by riding FLASH instead of driving a car.
